These comments pertain to the entire The Fitz and the Fool trilogy。As a fellow traveler who has come this far in the Elderlings series might expect, you will find the final chapter of this epic to be deeply introspective and emotionally freighted。 The experience of accompanying these characters this far in their journey is searing, but the story is so complex and compelling that I can't just set it aside and try to find something new to read。 I have to go back in。。。"One of Chade's exercises when These comments pertain to the entire The Fitz and the Fool trilogy。As a fellow traveler who has come this far in the Elderlings series might expect, you will find the final chapter of this epic to be deeply introspective and emotionally freighted。 The experience of accompanying these characters this far in their journey is searing, but the story is so complex and compelling that I can't just set it aside and try to find something new to read。 I have to go back in。。。"One of Chade's exercises when he was training me was to put the pieces of something back together… I would be presented with a bag of pieces of something, broken crockery or cut harness or something of that ilk, and I had to put them back into a whole。 After a time, the bag would hold not just the destroyed item but other random bits of things that looked as if they belonged with it。 It was a physical exercise to teach my mind to assemble bits of facts and random gossip into a comprehensible whole。"And so the fully engaged reader will have to go back through the pile of events and symbols and allusions scattered throughout the series, to sort through them in hindsight, approach a few unresolved questions from a new perspective, and see the big picture more clearly。 。。。more

Other than the palace intrigue plot lines which I found dragging, Fitz and Bee’s adventures are still very engaging in this sequel。

It took me longer than I wanted to finish this book。 It was good still though

I thought what happens here would never happen, but now it did。 It had my crying and even though this story is painful, I was so happy for Fitz。 (view spoiler)[ He FINALLY got recognized! Starling sang his hero song and he is acknowledged as a PRINCE!!! It feels like a wrong done to me – as a reader - many years ago have been righted。 Oh, Fitz, YOU DESERVE TO BE RECOGNIZED!! (hide spoiler)]This is, as always with Hobb, a very slow told tale。 But at the same time, there’s so much happening! I’m delighted to se Fitz and Fool reunited, even though Fitz continue to be an idiot, hurting himself trying to protect others and shutting them out。 Nevertheless, you can feel how much he have grown。 Fool though … Fool has been damaged, deeply so。 I like how Hobb gives her characters time to be traumatized and let time heal them as best as they can be healed。 I wonder if Hobb always planned to write so far into her story。 Did she plan this? Sometimes it’s possible to see slip ups, where things don’t quite fit together with earlier telling, but in the bigger picture, everything is coming together。 I’m glad this isn’t another story about “saving the dragons”, even though in some way, it is。 Why were the servants so intent of ridding the world of dragons? Soon, we will probably know。 Oh, did I say that the ending of book 1 was an unbearable cliffhanger? Forget what I said, BOOK 2, THAT’S A CLIFFHANGER。 I’m so glad I won’t have to wait a year for the next book, I pity those who read these when they were in progress。 Because … MORE。 NOW。 。。。more

4,5 stars!Fitz is, as always, quite infuriating in his ways。 Stupid too。 Still love him though。 And the entire cast of characters is amazing。 The Fool is my favourite as usual。I'm quite sad to only have one book left now and I must say I'm also quite scared of the outcome。 Before I've always known that at least Fitz and the Fool will make it somehow, but now there are no guarantees and I hate that。 4,5 stars!Fitz is, as always, quite infuriating in his ways。 Stupid too。 Still love him though。 And the entire cast of characters is amazing。 The Fool is my favourite as usual。I'm quite sad to only have one book left now and I must say I'm also quite scared of the outcome。 Before I've always known that at least Fitz and the Fool will make it somehow, but now there are no guarantees and I hate that。 。。。more

Fitz has always been an interesting character to me。 It is bittersweet to read about a character who makes so many human mistakes。 There are so many moments with Fitz that he bungles because he is tired/overwhelmed/sad/hurting/etc。 I sometimes want to grab him by the collar, shake him, and yell "be nice to the fool, he is your best friend"。 And yet all his faults make his moments of small victories so satisfying。 To me, Fitz books are very February/March reading。 A little gloomy, a lot of waitin Fitz has always been an interesting character to me。 It is bittersweet to read about a character who makes so many human mistakes。 There are so many moments with Fitz that he bungles because he is tired/overwhelmed/sad/hurting/etc。 I sometimes want to grab him by the collar, shake him, and yell "be nice to the fool, he is your best friend"。 And yet all his faults make his moments of small victories so satisfying。 To me, Fitz books are very February/March reading。 A little gloomy, a lot of waiting, but very beautiful in their own way。 。。。more

Another awesome tale by HobbAnother awesome tale by Hobb, this book is different from most in the series, but not as different as Fool's Assassin was。 Not a lot happens in the story, like Fool's Assassin, but also significantly more action than Fool's Assassin。 Still it is a captivating story。 Like Fool's Assassin, it is told alternating between the first person of the father and the first person of his daughter。 In this way, the story captivates the reader as we see events from these two differ Another awesome tale by HobbAnother awesome tale by Hobb, this book is different from most in the series, but not as different as Fool's Assassin was。 Not a lot happens in the story, like Fool's Assassin, but also significantly more action than Fool's Assassin。 Still it is a captivating story。 Like Fool's Assassin, it is told alternating between the first person of the father and the first person of his daughter。 In this way, the story captivates the reader as we see events from these two different viewpoints。  。。。more

I'm completely biased! Robin Hobb has become my go-to for the perfect fantasy fix。 She's gotten me through the entire pandemic and continues to do so with each colossal tome I complete。 These last three books of this epic series are by far my favorite! A intresting turn of events。 I can feel the thoughts put in this book & the maturity of characters compared to the initial books。 There are a lot of parts which are full of suspence & it makes me take up the next book in the series。

I'm really glad that i felt able to give this book 4 stars, as i wasn't sure halfway through。 Avoiding spoilers, i struggled with the Fool's arc as i felt their presentation in this book was out of character to how we've come to grow and love them (given the context i understand why, but i found them unlikable for much of the book)。 I also felt that nothing really happened in the middle of the book。 That being said, the end saved it for me! It might not be a blindingly fast page-turner for most people but it is a compelling read for those of us who have been on a journey with Fitz from the start。 I can't imagine a new reader would react to this novel in the same way someone like me would; Fitz's world here is likely going to be opaque for those who didn't experience the previous two trilogies。 But I love Fitz, and the Fool, and little Bee and (especially as a lover of canines) still get a little misty at the thought of Nighteyes。 T It might not be a blindingly fast page-turner for most people but it is a compelling read for those of us who have been on a journey with Fitz from the start。 I can't imagine a new reader would react to this novel in the same way someone like me would; Fitz's world here is likely going to be opaque for those who didn't experience the previous two trilogies。 But I love Fitz, and the Fool, and little Bee and (especially as a lover of canines) still get a little misty at the thought of Nighteyes。 This is a book for those of us who have been with Fitz every step of his journey and I loved (even when it hurt) every second of it。 。。。more

The book has a little bit of middle-book-syndrome, but overall a good setup for the final piece of the story。 I enjoy how we have weaved through previous characters and storylines without it feeling forced。

About: Fool’s Quest was written by Robin Hobb and published in 2015。 It is the second book in the Fitz and the Fool trilogy, which is the last sub series in The Realm of the Elderlings series。 This book pretty much leaves off where the last one did, so I can’t say too much。 Fitz needs to go off on a journey and the Fool follows him as well as a couple other characters。 For most of the book Fitz is at Buckkeep and then closer to the end he takes off on his journey。 We also get a few sections from About: Fool’s Quest was written by Robin Hobb and published in 2015。 It is the second book in the Fitz and the Fool trilogy, which is the last sub series in The Realm of the Elderlings series。 This book pretty much leaves off where the last one did, so I can’t say too much。 Fitz needs to go off on a journey and the Fool follows him as well as a couple other characters。 For most of the book Fitz is at Buckkeep and then closer to the end he takes off on his journey。 We also get a few sections from his daughter Bee’s perspective。 Did I Like It?: As with pretty much the whole series I did indeed love this one! I’m really liking this conclusion to The Realm of the Elderlings。 A lot of my favorite characters were in a lot of this book。 Most notably we get a lot of the Fool, but then also Chade and Kettriken。 As well as some new characters that I’m really liking。 I suppose some would say Robin Hobb’s books can be slow, but they’re so engrossing。 This book really built up the pressure until Fitz and the Fool take off on their journey 。 At the end they end up in Kelsingra, which brings together characters from The Liveship Traders and The Rain Wild Chronicles。 All of the series seemed to come to a meeting point I felt like they hadn’t quite done in the other books, so that was exciting! I can’t wait to read the last book! Do I Recommend This?: If you’ve read this far in The Realm of the Elderlings series, yes keep going it’s amazing! If you haven’t read this series I highly recommend it for those that want a fantasy series with fabulous characters that you can’t stop reading about。 。。。more

Robin Hobb is back with Fitz and the Fool and all the dear characters from Buckeep。 I had soet of lost patience with Fitz in book one of this last trilogy - I didn't like the new characters at all despite them being important not only to the undolsing of the plot but as characters related by blood to Fitz。 This second book restored my fascination with Hobb's storytelling skills。 It gripped me and held me tight from beginning to end, so much so that I feel compelled to pick up book three immediat Robin Hobb is back with Fitz and the Fool and all the dear characters from Buckeep。 I had soet of lost patience with Fitz in book one of this last trilogy - I didn't like the new characters at all despite them being important not only to the undolsing of the plot but as characters related by blood to Fitz。 This second book restored my fascination with Hobb's storytelling skills。 It gripped me and held me tight from beginning to end, so much so that I feel compelled to pick up book three immediately and go on with the story。 。。。more

I'm glad I waited until I had this whole trilogy to read before I started it。 This series reads a lot like one long book that was split into three for length reasons。 I'm just fine with that, but things got complicated and the stakes even higher in this book, and I think I would have been pretty miffed and forgetful if I'd had to wait a year or two before picking up the threads between books。This second instalment picks up right where the first one left off, and compared to the first book, is ac I'm glad I waited until I had this whole trilogy to read before I started it。 This series reads a lot like one long book that was split into three for length reasons。 I'm just fine with that, but things got complicated and the stakes even higher in this book, and I think I would have been pretty miffed and forgetful if I'd had to wait a year or two before picking up the threads between books。This second instalment picks up right where the first one left off, and compared to the first book, is action packed。 Fitz just wants to rescue his daughter and cure his friend, but keeps finding roadblocks thrown into his way。 Plus, he has basically no idea what's going on。I appreciate that Hobb doesn't skimp on character growth or action。 Some of the youngsters from the first book are turning into cool people, or at least conflicted people, and Fitz keeps on learning about himself and what it means to connect to people as time passes and the nature of relationships change。 But also there's lots of fighting, charging off on horseback and blood spattered on the snow and things of that nature。 。。。more

While I did not love this one as much as its prequel, I still very much enjoyed it (obviously - it's Robin Hobb)。 But I will say that the structure was peculiar and I think that is because it may have suffered a little from second-book syndrome。 It took a while to get started, but when it did, it lost steam fairly quickly。 However, I was not too put off by this, as I will take any excuse to revisit the characters and the world they inhabit。 It merely was not my favorite installment in the series While I did not love this one as much as its prequel, I still very much enjoyed it (obviously - it's Robin Hobb)。 But I will say that the structure was peculiar and I think that is because it may have suffered a little from second-book syndrome。 It took a while to get started, but when it did, it lost steam fairly quickly。 However, I was not too put off by this, as I will take any excuse to revisit the characters and the world they inhabit。 It merely was not my favorite installment in the series - but I'm excited for the next and final one。 。。。more
